Bringing Ultrasound Technology to the Island

The Waiheke Rotary Club, Rotary District 9920 and the Waiheke Masonic Lodge teamed up to contribute to the much needed Ultrasound technology for the community.

Ultrasound technology was severely lacking on the island, with folks having to travel off island at great cost for what is often a simple diagnostic test. The Waiheke Health Trust put the call out to the community and was met with generous donations from this community to make it happen.

It might seem like a small thing, but since the equipment has been in operation on the island, it has been providing diagnostic services to up to 8 people per day. Imagine the collective time and cost savings for our community members. And of course, having the equipment here on the island is one less barrier to going to have that much needed ultrasound and being able to catch and treat the issues it detects.

Our Waiheke Rotary President (Leighton Langley) and President Elect (Steve Fabris) went along to have a look at the equipment, and the wonderful wall of donor acknowledgements at the Waiheke Health Trust.
